EW in winter

I probably shouldn't give this river any publicity. I've been there twice in the summer months and it's been angler after angler after... you get the idea. But a river flowing at 20-something cfs in the middle of winter with action on dry flies? Awesome:

I haven't been there this winter but fly fishing cohort Justin (above) stuck some nice fish this past weekend. The game was a stealthy approach, casting from a crouch to visible rising trout. Sounds ok... I guess. :-)

  1. Hey man, great posts as always. You'll be happy to know I am a full fledged fly fisherman now. I'm nymphing and roll casting my way into some good fish. I'm not doing well controlling the fight and I've lost two big fish recently. How the heck do you land a BIG fish on the fly rod. I'm not having problems getting strikes. My go to fly has been a flashy little pheasant tail nymph. We should fish together someday now that you can accept me as a real fisherman... just kidding.

  2. Brian you just weren't going with the right people. You'll have to head there with us some time and we'll show you the ways of the Walker. Justin was right the dry action was unreal.
