I've been slacking on this blog-- not by choice but by the inevitable face-kicking amount of energy that's needed for engineering classes. How I loathe them. Anyways... for an interim post to a half completed write up on the donner und blitzen-- some knots.
For the most part I've had excellent success with flourocarbon using a double surgeon's knot to build simple leaders and attach tippet and using a Uni-knot to tie on flies. However after a quick search for knots recommended for flourocarbon-- I think I will give the following two knots a try. The first is recommended by seaguar (my new choice brand for flourocarbon) and the second by frog hair (my previous favorite brand of flourocarbon). Both are recommended specifically as good knots for flouro (click to enlarge):

Let me know if you currently employ these knots and how they work for you! cheers.

With flouro I've been using the Davy Wotten knot for tippet to hook applications. Take a look at it, it's really stong, and can be tied in about 10 seconds.
ReplyDeleteThat's a b.a. knot (if a knot can be such a thing...) that I will definitely give a try... I might post it here too-- thanks for the tip!
